“When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’” Luke 2:15 (NIV)
Curiosity, a strong desire to know or learn something, is a powerful gift that keeps us open to learning, exploring, and discovering God’s work in our lives. The shepherds demonstrated a holy curiosity the night the angel appeared to them. Instead of staying in the safety of their fields, they stepped out in faith, eager to witness the miracle of Jesus’ birth.
In the same way, God calls us to remain curious about His plans, even when they are unclear. Curiosity invites us to ask questions, seek deeper understanding, and marvel at the ways He works in and around us.
During Advent, curiosity allows us to approach familiar stories with fresh eyes and wonder. It inspires us to explore the mystery of God’s love and reflect on the ways He reveals Himself in our daily lives. Like the shepherds, we are invited to say, “Let’s go and see!”
MENTAL HEALTH MOMENT
Cultivating curiosity can shift perspectives and encourage growth. In mental health, curiosity about your emotions or challenges helps you understand them better and approach solutions with an open mind. When you feel stuck, ask yourself: “What can I learn from this?” Curiosity is a gateway to self-discovery.
REFLECTION
• What areas of your life are you curious about right now?
• How can you nurture your curiosity to deepen your faith and understanding?
“Be curious, not judgmental.”Walt Whitman
PRAYER
