"But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.’" Luke 2:10-11 (NIV)
Remember the excitement as a child over a pending holiday, or some other anticpated event. Eyes filled with wonder. Giggles of delight fill the air!
Excitement is one of the purest emotions—it bubbles up in our hearts, sparking joy and anticipation for what’s to come.
Imagine the shepherds’ excitement as the angel announced the birth of the Saviour. In the stillness of the night, their world was suddenly filled with light and a message that would change history. They couldn’t wait to see for themselves what God had promised.
Similarly, the Magi travelled far with hearts full of wonder and excitement, following the star to meet the newborn King. Their excitement was not a fleeting feeling; it fuelled their perseverance on a long journey.
In our lives, excitement reminds us of God’s ability to surprise us with moments of joy and hope, even in the mundane. It’s a gift that energises us, reminding us to embrace the present and look forward to the future with faith and trust.
