“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”Psalm 62:8 (NIV).
Ever had your plans disrupted or maybe life hasn’t panned out as hoped? If so, the chances are you’ve experienced frustration - an an emotion we all face from time to time.
Imagine Mary and Joseph arriving in Bethlehem, tired from their journey, only to find there was no room at the inn. What frustration they must have felt as they searched for a place to rest, only to settle for a stable.
Yet, even in their frustration, God’s purpose was unfolding. That humble stable became the birthplace of the King of Kings, a reminder that even in our most difficult moments, God is working behind the scenes.
Advent invites us to bring our frustrations to God, trusting Him with the parts of life we cannot control. It teaches us to surrender our plans and embrace His greater purpose, even when the road feels bumpy.
Mental Health Moment
Frustration can be a signal that something needs attention. When you feel frustrated, pause and ask yourself: “What’s beneath this feeling?” Often, it’s unmet expectations or a sense of helplessness. Practicing deep breathing, reframing the situation, or stepping away for a moment can help you regain perspective.
Let’s Reflect
• What frustrations are you experiencing right now?
• How can you surrender those frustrations to God and look for His purpose in the situation?
“Frustration, although quite painful at times, is a very positive and essential part of success.”— Bo Bennett
Prayer
Lord, when I feel frustrated, help me to pause and turn to You. Teach me to trust Your plans and to see the opportunities within the challenges. Give me the patience to surrender control and the faith to rest in Your promises. Amen.
