The Bread of Life

Along life’s pathway, plodding ahead, No vision set in mind There seems to be something missing Unable to identify; nor able to find

Ever-seeking; never finding Always chasing; unable to clasp Happiness, wholeness, contentment elusive Lasting fulfilment outside of ones grasp

Perhaps the next big thing can fill This emptiness in my life occupy Possessions, people, increasing play Must this vacuous void mollify

But in the midst of my weary wandering A voice invites:”Come and rest!” To the vagabond vagrancy of heart&soul He says “Receive my peace! Be blest!”

Jesus said: “I AM the bread of life” Come to me for a satisfying feed; Not to satisfy the stomach, though But to sate the soul’s starving need
